SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — When it comes to fall in Seoul, the city’s palaces reign supreme. A new data analysis by the Seoul Metropolitan Government shows that royal palaces, particularly Gyeongbokgung, dominate as the most talked-about and visited spots among both residents and tourists during the autumn season.
The findings, released Wednesday, were drawn from Seoul’s integrated tourism data platform, built with LG Uplus, which compiles social media mentions, mobile usage, and consumer spending data. The study analyzed October 2024 figures by age group, location, and visitor patterns.
Gyeongbokgung Palace led the rankings with over 30,000 social media mentions, followed by Changgyeonggung and Changdeokgung in fifth place, and Deoksugung in seventh. Seoul Forest came in second overall, while Namsan and N Seoul Tower ranked sixth with about 12,000 mentions, popular among family groups and older visitors.
The city noted a growing digital buzz around Namsan driven by the global success of the animated series K-Pop Demon Hunters, which has drawn attention to K-content landmarks.
Seoul also operates a real-time urban data service, available at data.seoul.go.kr/SeoulRtd that allows users to check congestion levels, parking availability, and event information across 120 districts.
“From the autumn leaves at the palaces to the night view at Namsan and the breeze along the Han River, we’re using data to help people experience the beauty of Seoul more conveniently,” said Kang Ok-hyun, head of the city’s Smart City Bureau.
