SEJONG, April 4 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean seafood will be exported to China under the integrated brand name of “K-Fish,” starting this month, the maritime ministry said Sunday.

The K-Fish products include “gim,” or dried seaweed, oysters, sea cucumbers, brown seaweed and sea tangle, produced by six local seafood companies, according to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.

The ministry said it will help the businesses participate in food exhibitions and carry out online and offline promotion events in China.

The K-Fish brand will be expanded to other overseas countries in the future, the ministry said.

South Korea’s seafood exports fell 6.87 percent to US$1.92 billion in 2015 from a year earlier amid waning global demand. But shipments of “gim” jumped 11.3 percent on-year to $274.4 million last year and those of oysters soared 44 percent to $95.9 million.’
