SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Korea Bizwire) — Korean athletes who have played for professional teams in Turkey have turned to social media in a bid to help the victims of the recent earthquakes that devastated the country.
Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung shared posts about the earthquake three times on her Instagram account.
“Help Turkey!” she said, providing detailed instructions on how to send donations to the country.
Kim signed a contract with Turkish team Fenerbahce in 2011 and won the championship seven times during her six years with the team.
Napoli center back Kim Min-jae, who spent 2021 season with the Turkish football team Fenerbahce, also posted a photo of the Turkish flag with a slogan that said “Pray for Turkey” on social media, providing instructions for donations.
Among the members of the South Korean disaster relief team sent to Turkey was a military officer who fought at the forefront of the pandemic three years ago.
Army Capt. Kim Hye-ju from the Armed Forces Medical Command gained prominence for a photo posted on social media.
In the photo, taken in 2020, she was seen with a band-aid on her nose after sustaining a bruise from wearing a surgical mask for a prolonged period.
