Korean Style Hotdog Evolves into an Additive-Free Specialty

SEOUL, May 19 (Korea Bizwire)Korea’s cheap street food ‘hotdog’, a fried, dough covered sausage on a long stick is getting a makeover.

As CJ Cheiljedang launched an additives-free hotdog in 2011, the market for instant hotdog products is growing bigger by the year.

Lotte Ham launched an all-pork sausage hotdog product in 2010, as previous sausages for hotdogs were usually made with 20 percent pork and 80 percent chicken.

Pulmuone launched 6 additive-free hotdogs and a veggie hotdog in 2011.

Lotte Food recently presented a hotdog with creamier, softer dough and all-pork sausage. It also introduced a mini ‘finger food’ hotdog.

Seven Eleven launched its ‘Rice Dog,’ which has rice and sausage under its conventional hotdog exterior.
