SEOUL, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire)South Korean webtoons that serve as sources for dramas are experiencing a surge in both viewership and revenue, driven by the popularity of the corresponding live-action series.

Following the premiere of the Disney+ superhero series “Moving” on Aug. 9, the eponymous webtoon secured the highest position in terms of views on KakaoPage, a digital comic and fiction platform operated by Kakao Corp.

The momentum of increased clicks and revenue for the webtoon has continued to the present.

Although Kang Full’s hit webtoon was finished in 2015, the drama’s popularity has prompted a considerable number of individuals to revisit the original version.

The average daily views of “Moving” on KakaoPage have shown an impressive 22-fold increase, accompanied by a 12-fold rise in daily revenue.

These statistics are drawn from a comparison between the average daily views and revenue from Aug. 9 to 29 and the figures recorded during the week before the episodes’ release.

Regarding the original webtoon for Genie TV’s recently concluded drama “Not Others,” its average daily views on KakaoPage surged 27-fold over a span of about 40 days from Jul. 17 to Aug. 29, compared to the period before the drama aired.

Revenues, meanwhile, increased 11-fold during the same timeframe.

“The Killing Vote,” a popular webtoon that was recently adapted into a TV drama and began airing on SBS on Aug. 10, enjoyed a 21-fold rise in views on KakaoPage, accompanied by a 16-fold increase in revenue.

This achievement is particularly impressive considering the webtoon was completed back in 2016.
