SEOUL, Jun. 5 (Korea Bizwire) — Electronic dance music (EDM) is enjoying unprecedented popularity in Korea right now.
Tickets to existing EDM festivals are selling faster than ever, while new EDM festivals with rich lineups have been introduced.
EDM DJs are also in demand as guests for university festivals.
The 4th Ultra Music Festival Korea, which has sold almost all of its tickets, is expecting to welcome more than 120,000 concertgoers this year.
The lineup is praised to be the best ever, as Hardwell, no.1 on the world’s 100 top DJ list from magazine DJ Mag, David Guetta and Alesso will perform at the festival.
DJ KOO, who participated in Ultra Music Festival Miami three years in a row as a Korean representative, will also show at the festival.
The festival will be held at the Main Olympic Stadium in Jamsil on June 12 and 13.
Along with two existing EDM festivals – World DJ Festival and Global Gathering Korea – two new EDM festivals, Heineken STARDIUM and Water Bomb will meet Korean EDM fans.
Major rock festivals in Korea will also feature electronic dance musicians, as the Ansan M Valley Rock Festival, held from July 24 to 26, will present Chemical Brothers, Idiotape, Deadmau5 and Rudimental.
The Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival will also feature The Prodigy on the last day of the festival.
