SEOUL, June 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. on Thursday announced a new service on at a restaurant in Wanju County, North Joella Province, which combines autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) serving robots with its table order solution called High Order.
The restaurant operates 16 serving robots and 90 High Order devices, enabling customers to place orders without having to call for staff. The robots then deliver the food to the table.
When a customer places an order through tablets placed on each table, the serving robots serve the food at approximately 90 different tables.
The serving robots were introduced in April and their unique gliding movements ensure the safe delivery of soups and beverages, preventing collisions between each other.
On weekends, the serving robots make more than 900 daily deliveries, assisting the human staff and creating a unique and cozy ambiance, according to KT.
“This restaurant boasts the largest pool of AI serving robots in the country, successfully transitioning into a digital service,” a company official said.
