SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — The KT Wiz have re-signed starting pitcher William Cuevas for their seventh season together.
The Wiz announced Friday that Cuevas agreed to a new one-year contract worth US$1.5 million.
The Venezuelan right-hander has pitched for the Wiz since 2019. He was cut after two games in 2022 due to elbow issues, but the Wiz brought him back in the middle of the 2023 season.
In 2024, Cuevas went 7-12 with a 4.10 ERA across 31 starts. He tossed 173 1/3 innings, his second-highest total in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and third overall in the league last year, while also finishing third with 19 quality starts.
For his KBO career, Cuevas is 52-35 with a 3.74 ERA. Known as a big-game pitcher, Cuevas was integral to the Wiz’s run to the 2021 Korean Series title and threw six shutout innings to beat the Doosan Bears in a wild card game this postseason.
