SEOUL, Sept. 22 (Korea Bizwire) — Demand for large home appliances is rising as families are spending more time at home to work and study remotely following the coronavirus outbreak.
Electronics appliance retailer ETLand reported that between Feb. 1-Sept. 18 drum washing machines with a capacity of more than 21 kilograms saw sales jump by 293 percent compared to the same period last year.
Sales of dishwashers for more than 12 place settings jumped by 281 percent, while sales of dryers with a capacity of more than 14 kilograms and stylers that can hold five garments or more jumped by 10 percent and 133 percent, respectively.
Among sales of all drum washing machines, the proportion of those with a capacity of more than 21 kilograms increased from 78 percent to 92 percent this year, while sales of dishwashers carrying up to 12 place settings jumped from 65 to 69 percent.
The sales proportion of air dressers that can hold more than five garments expanded from 33 to 52 percent, while dryers that can accommodate more than 14 kilograms gained increased sales proportion from 75 to 91 percent.
