JEJU, Mar. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s largest integrated resort, Jeju Shinhwa World, officially opened on Thursday, a project expected to bring tens of thousands of new jobs to the island.

Ranging from a theme park, a convention center and a casino to a hotel and condominiums, the resort complex is packed with entertainment and recreational venues covering 2.5 million square meters of land in the city of Seoqwipo.

During the opening ceremony, which took place yesterday at a convention center inside the resort complex, the organizers appeared on stage and pushed buttons to signal the launch of the largest resort complex in the country, as hundreds of local residents in the audience looked on.

“We will make Jeju Shinhwa World an international resort complex that local people can be proud of, contributing to both the local economy and South Korea’s tourism industry,” said Yang Zhihui, the chairman of Hong-Kong based Landing International Development Limited, which developed and operates the resort complex.

Three accommodation facilities including Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World serviced residences, the five-star hotel Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort and Jeju Shinhwa World Landing Resort boast an impressive 1,500 rooms.

In addition, a wide selection of restaurants, a club house, a swimming pool, and a café modeled after K-pop star G-Dragon await customers.

Lee Kwang-hee, the CEO of Jeju Free International City Development Center said, “Twelve years after securing the land for the project in 2006, the high-quality integrated resort which can coexist with the local community has become complete. We hope people show continuing interest and support.”
