SEOUL, April 22 (Korea Bizwire) The government will soon pass new legislation as the introduction of a new animal paramedic program, designed to enhance the quality of animal treatment and enlarge the professional pool, is just around the corner.

The Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries announced Wednesday that it will soon pass a new bill that amends legislation that supports the new law on veterinary practices that includes provisions on animal paramedics, coming into effect in August.

Animal paramedics are those who nurse animals and assist with animal medical treatment.

The bill sets the scope of agencies that can be delegated by the Minister of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to host certification exams for animal paramedics, as well as the rules on public disclosure of the list of agencies hosting these examinations.

Training institutions certified by the government will be allowed to engage in medical activities, supervised by a veterinarian, as an opportunity for students majoring in animal paramedic studies to get hands-on experience.
