SUNGNAM, Oct. 12 (Korea Bizwire) – Frederic Andre (33), a LEGO designer, visited the Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo on October 11.
He has a very unusual background. Having studied Japanese in France, Andre once worked at the French branch of a Japanese media company, but quit his job at the age of 25, feeling the need to do something more creative.
Since he often spent time making things out of the LEGO he used to play with when he was young, creating new models and designs, when he saw that there was a job opening at LEGO for a new designer, he knew he had to apply. He got the job, and has been working there ever since, participating in the development of the Star Wars and Galaxy Squad series.
Andre emphasizes that the most important thing for LEGO designers is imagination. “LEGO is a great way to express oneself. I can’t draw or paint, but when I want to express something, I can usually make it out of LEGO.”
He says that LEGO is an easy toy to start with, and offers kids the chance to make whatever they like. “I still think that LEGO is a great toy, even if children learn how to unlock a smartphone even before they learn their first words.”
A new LEGO series that Andre worked on, called ‘Nexo Knights’, will be launching next year. The series brings the adventures of futuristic knights to the LEGO world.
