CHUNCHEON, May 18 (Korea Bizwire)The Legoland Korea Resort, which opened early this month, is facing criticism for its expensive parking fees.

Parking is free for one hour, but users are then charged a daily fee of 18,000 won (US$14.19).

Legoland’s daily parking fee is more expensive than that of other theme parks. In addition, unlike other theme parks, there are no discounts offered for small cars and cars for people with disabilities.

Legoland’s parking lot is capable of accommodating about 2,000 vehicles. The parking lot is owned by the Gangwon Jungdo Developments Corp. and leased by Legoland.

In the neighborhood of Legoland, there is a free parking lot with a parking capacity of about 2,000 vehicles. The free parking lot was built temporarily to accommodate a surge in visitors to the area following the theme park’s opening.

However, the free parking lot remains empty since it only opens when the pay parking lot is full.

Legoland said that the parking lot is operated based on considerations of operational and rental costs.
