SEOUL, March 16 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics have once again secured top rankings in U.S. Consumer Reports, extending their dominance from washing machines to refrigerators.
According to industry sources, LG Electronics was recently ranked No. 1 in the 30-inch and 33-inch top-freezer refrigerator categories in Consumer Reports’ 2025 Best Refrigerators evaluation. Meanwhile, Samsung and LG took the top two spots in the 21–28 inch category.
Top-freezer refrigerators, known for their simple design, durability, and affordability, have become a popular choice for consumers seeking high-value appliances.
Consumer Reports conducted its evaluation by installing temperature sensors inside refrigerators and collecting over 5.4 million temperature data points over a month, alongside customer surveys on brand reliability and satisfaction.

LG and Samsung Lead Across Categories
- 30-inch category: LG’s model (76 points) earned the highest ratings for temperature control and energy efficiency, with strong performance in temperature consistency.
- 33-inch category: LG’s model (76 points) was highly rated for energy efficiency, temperature control, and noise levels.
- 21–28 inch category: Samsung’s 28-inch model (78 points) took the top spot, excelling in temperature control, consistency, and energy efficiency. LG’s 28-inch model (77 points) followed closely behind with strong energy efficiency and temperature regulation scores.
According to market research firm TraQline, LG and Samsung together hold a 47.7% market share in the U.S. refrigerator market, nearing half of total sales.

Strong Performance in Washing Machine Rankings
This recognition follows similar success in Consumer Reports’ 2025 Best Washer & Dryer Sets rankings, where:
- LG ranked No. 1 in two categories: front-load washer & dryer sets and top-load impeller washer & dryer sets.
- Samsung ranked No. 1 for top-load agitator washer & dryer sets.
