SEOUL, Jan. 20 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics Inc. said Thursday it will launch a full-scale roll-out of a version of its CLOi robot that features a library-customized solution.
The company recently supplied a public library of the South Gyeongsang Provincial Office of Education in Changwon, some 400 kilometers south of Seoul, with one CLOi guidebot and two other robots that have customized functions for libraries.
The guidebot provides a voice-based library search service to ensure better access for visually-impaired people and children who have difficulty typing text.
Once users say the name of a book or author, the guidebot shows related books and guides them to the location of the books.
The front and rear of the guidebot are mounted with 27-inch touch displays, enabling users to find the books they want or check library facilities or notices by inputting search words.
As for the other robots, one can help carry books for children or those with mobility problems, while the other helps move books from the unmanned return box to the reading room.
