SEOUL, March 27 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Display announced on March 26 a comprehensive digital transformation initiative focused on advancing automation and intelligent manufacturing systems, a move that has already yielded dramatic improvements in production efficiency.
The display manufacturer’s adoption of artificial intelligence in its OLED production lines last December has reduced processing time from two weeks to just three days, generating annual cost savings of 200 billion won. The company plans to build on this success by expanding its high-performance AI infrastructure, implementing real-time process data analysis, and upgrading its high-speed network environment.
“We’re investing in both technology and talent,” said a company representative, noting LG Display’s ongoing commitment to developing AI-integrated technologies and training AI specialists.
In a notable cybersecurity measure, the company has become the first in its industry to develop an in-house generative AI system for internal searches, designed to prevent sensitive information leaks.
The South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has recognized these efforts by designating LG Display as a qualified company for business restructuring in the digital transformation sector. This designation grants the company various incentives, including financial support such as access to state-backed bank loans and loan maturity extensions from commercial banks, for the next five years.
