SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Display Co., a major display panel maker in South Korea, will distribute transparent safety umbrellas for free as a way to prevent traffic accidents involving children on rainy days.
The transparent safety umbrellas will be distributed to first and second grade students at about 170 elementary schools around LG Display plants and business sites in Paju in Gyeonggi Province and Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province.
The company plans to deliver 16,000 umbrellas on a step by step basis in accordance with each school’s opening schedule.
The transparent safety umbrellas are designed to allow children to have a better view on rainy or cloudy days, as well as to make it easier for drivers to recognize the presence of children.
The umbrella is made of transparent and light-reflecting materials. To enhance drivers’ awareness, one side of the umbrella is printed with ‘30 km,’ the speed limit in school zones. The umbrella also has a whistle that can be used to attract attention in emergencies.
