SEOUL, April 21, (Korea Bizwire) LG Display announced Monday that it has developed and deployed its own artificial intelligence assistant — the first of its kind in the display industry — to streamline internal workflows and improve productivity.

The AI assistant service, which debuted in early 2025, is designed to support individual productivity through features such as real-time translation during video conferences and automatic generation of meeting transcripts.

By integrating the assistant into the company’s internal intranet system, “Let’s,” via a plug-in model, employees can access the tool seamlessly within their usual work environment.

In the first half of the year, LG Display plans to add capabilities like AI-driven email summarization and natural language-based data analysis. By the second half, the assistant will be able to generate draft PowerPoint presentations, transforming it into a full-fledged document creation tool.

According to the company, the AI assistant has already increased daily productivity by an estimated 10%, saving an average of 50 minutes per eight-hour workday. LG Display aims to raise that figure to 30% over the next three years by expanding the assistant’s functionality and usage.

The system is powered by EXAONE 3.5, a large language model developed by LG AI Research, while LG CNS contributed to the development of the AI application. By building the assistant in-house, LG Display says it has avoided more than 10 billion won (approximately $7.4 million) in subscription costs for comparable third-party services.

Security was a key consideration in the project. By embedding the language model internally, LG Display eliminated the risk of data exposure to external platforms, ensuring a secure operating environment for sensitive corporate information.

“This AI assistant allows employees to reduce time spent on repetitive tasks and focus on higher-value work,” said Lee Byung-seung, Executive Director of LG Display’s DX Group. “We’re committed to enhancing AI transformation capabilities and delivering differentiated value to our customers.”

The initiative aligns with LG Display’s broader digital transformation strategy. Last month, the company was designated by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy as a “Business Restructuring Enterprise” in the digital transformation category.

As part of this designation, LG Display plans to enhance OLED productivity through advanced automation and intelligent systems.

The move underscores LG Display’s growing emphasis on AI-driven innovation, not just in its manufacturing lines, but also across its corporate operations.
