SEOUL, Feb. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics has announced the launch of an AI-based fault prediction feature in its LG BECON cloud system, marking the introduction of South Korea’s first ICT-based remote maintenance system for commercial air conditioning systems.

The feature, set to be implemented by the end of this month, is designed to enhance the efficiency and reliability of air conditioning maintenance.

The LG BECON cloud system provides real-time monitoring of air conditioning units, including operational status, control settings, and fault detection. With the addition of the AI fault prediction capability, the system can now identify early signs of potential failures by analyzing abnormal signals using big data algorithms.

LG Electronics explains that the AI feature segments the air conditioning components—such as fans, motors, compressors, refrigerants, sensors, and drain pumps—for a more systematic and precise analysis, resulting in improved accuracy in fault prediction.

Hi-M Solutek, LG’s air conditioning maintenance subsidiary, will utilize the AI’s analysis to inform customers about potential issues, allowing service engineers to diagnose and address the identified problems promptly and accurately.

This proactive approach aims to prevent the usual influx of service requests during peak seasons, such as summer and winter, thereby minimizing inconvenience due to malfunctions.

The AI fault prediction feature is expected to play a significant role in facilities requiring constant heating and cooling, such as medical centers, hospitality businesses, and manufacturing plants.

Following a year of rigorous testing since the feature’s development completion last year, LG Electronics plans to continually upgrade the technology and expand its applicability to more products.

At CES 2024 last month, LG Electronics redefined AI as “empathetic intelligence” and is committed to incorporating AI functionalities across its products and services to provide a unique and enhanced customer experience.

Hi-M Solutek CEO Yoo Kwang-yeol expressed the company’s dedication to providing unparalleled customer experiences in air conditioning maintenance services through continuous technological advancement and upgrades.
