SEOUL, July 30 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics Inc. has teamed up with the state-run utility Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) to develop an energy-saving service for households.

The two parties signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Thursday to develop an “electricity data and artificial intelligence (AI)-based customer experience-type home energy service.”

The South Korean tech giant plans to unveil an integrated energy monitoring service through its home electronics management application LG ThinQ in the latter half of this year at the earliest.

With this service, LG plans to provide its customers with various information using KEPCO’s electricity data, including the amount of home electronics energy use, electricity bill and tips on how to save energy.

From a mid and long-term perspective, the two parties also reached an agreement to explore electric vehicle (EV) charging services.

They will develop a service that would enable users to check the operating state of a charger and the charging state by combining LG’s EV charging management solution with KEPCO’s EV charger data.
