SEOUL, Sept. 23 (Korea Bizwire)LG Electronics Inc. said Thursday that it will expand its service robot business with the LG CLOi ServeBot in collaboration with mobile carrier LG Uplus Corp.

The two affiliates of LG Group agreed to cooperate in the expansion of the service robot business, exploration of new business opportunities, exploration of robot-specialized sales channels and development of robot control platforms on a gradual basis.

In the first stages of cooperation, the two companies launched a trial of the CLOi ServeBot in some restaurants run by food service franchise The Born Korea Co. starting late last month.

The CLOi ServeBot offers various services in the restaurants connected to LG Uplus’ communication networks in the stores.

Based on indoor self-driving and obstacle avoidance technologies, the CLOi ServeBot can safely deliver foods in an orderly manner to customer tables even if multiple locations are input.

It can also carry up to 10 kilograms of products on each of its three shelves.
