SEOUL, May 31 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics has long been criticized for its ‘humble’ marketing strategies despite launching products with class-leading features. However, the global electronics giant is now challenging the accusations with radical marketing campaigns.

LG recently invited Sierra Blair-Coyle, a professional rock climber, to climb a 33-storey building using only the vacuuming power of its latest Cord Zero vacuum cleaner.

The video, which was released last week, has received significant attention both in and outside of Korea.

“Many people seemed to believe that cordless vacuum cleaners have weaker performance than those with a cable,” said an LG Electronics official. “So we wanted to plan something that could shatter the stereotype.”

In April, LG revealed the ‘Paper Gram’, a replica of the company’s Gram 15 laptop. The Paper Gram was made solely out of paper, including all of the components, and weighs 980 grams, remarkably similar to the original model, and highlighting the Gram 15’s lightweight construction.

LG’s creative marketing endeavors have also applied to its laundry machines.

To emphasize the high-efficiency, low-noise Centum System technology in its laundry machines, LG hired a professional card stacker to build a 3.3-meter high tower of playing cards on top of a running machine spinning at 1,000 RPM.

The tower also broke the Guinness World record for the tallest house of cards built in 12 hours.

“We’re trying to create marketing content that best presents the new features and functions of our products,” said an LG official.
