SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics Inc. on Thursday unveiled new modular housing models featuring the latest home appliances in response to the growing demand for second houses.
The South Korean tech giant launched two new models of the LG Smart Cottage, which refers to the company’s prefabricated home equipped with its heating, ventilation and energy solutions.
The new lineup comes with relatively affordable price tags compared with previous models, with the 27-square-meter model priced at 100 million won (US$71,280), the company said.
LG Electronics said consumers can combine multiple modular homes for larger spaces like a block, depending on demand.
The company first unveiled the LG Smart Cottage last year targeting businesses such as camping site operators.
South Korea’s market for modular construction is expected to reach 4.4 trillion won in 2030, according to LG Electronics, citing a report by the Korea Iron & Steel Association.
