SEOUL, Dec. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics said Tuesday it will unveil a new flagship LCD television, the Micro RGB Evo, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next month, marking a major push to redefine premium LCD performance amid intensifying competition in the global TV market.
The Micro RGB technology reduces the size of the LCD backlight and replaces traditional white LEDs with red, green and blue light sources, significantly enhancing color reproduction. LG said it incorporated advanced light-control technologies refined through 13 years of leadership in the global OLED TV market to deliver what it calls a breakthrough in LCD picture quality.
Positioned as the highest-end tier within LG’s LCD lineup, the Micro RGB Evo is intended to strengthen the company’s foothold in the premium TV segment.
The model is powered by the third-generation Alpha 11 processor, a dual-AI engine shared with LG’s 2026 OLED lineup. The chipset enables precise control of brightness and contrast through a new “Micro Dimming Ultra” system and performs “Dual Super Upscaling,” processing two AI upscaling tasks simultaneously for more balanced, natural images.
LG said the TV achieves 100 percent color coverage across broadcast, digital cinema, photography and graphic standards, a performance certified by global testing agency Intertek. The company described the color accuracy as well-suited for high-definition broadcasting, film viewing and professional editing.
The set will also feature LG’s suite of AI-driven functions, including AI Concierge, AI Search, an AI Chatbot, personalized picture-and-sound optimization and voice ID.
Ahead of its official debut, the Micro RGB Evo has been named a CES 2026 Innovation Award honoree by the Consumer Technology Association.
