SEOUL, Dec. 25 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics is set to unveil a new humanoid home robot at CES 2026, signaling an ambitious push to redefine domestic life through artificial intelligence and robotics.

The South Korean electronics maker said Thursday that it will introduce the robot, named LG CLOiD, at the world’s largest consumer technology show, which opens in Las Vegas on Jan. 6. Ahead of the event, LG released a teaser video across its global social media channels, offering an early glimpse of the machine’s capabilities.

In the video, the robot uses five articulated fingers to pick up household objects and exchanges a fist bump with a human, underscoring LG’s vision of a home robot designed not merely for automation but for interaction. The name CLOiD combines LG’s existing CLOi robot brand with the letter “D,” short for “dynamic,” reflecting its emphasis on movement and responsiveness.

LG said the robot was conceived as a new form factor that goes beyond conventional labor-saving appliances. Equipped with two arms and humanlike hands, CLOiD is designed to operate smoothly in living spaces built around human bodies, allowing it to perform household tasks with greater dexterity.

Powered by artificial intelligence, the robot is also intended to recognize and learn from its surroundings and to adapt to residents’ schedules and lifestyles. LG envisions it functioning as an AI assistant capable of coordinating and controlling other smart appliances throughout the home.

The company has identified robotics as a core future growth engine and has accelerated investment in the field. Earlier this year, LG established a dedicated robotics research institute under its Home Solution division and has expanded partnerships with external firms specializing in advanced robotic technologies.

“Through LG CLOiD and our broader efforts, we will showcase our vision of a ‘zero-labor home’ at CES 2026,” said Baik Seung-tae, a senior vice president at LG Electronics, referring to the company’s goal of freeing consumers from routine household work.
