SEOUL, Aug. 16 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics Inc. said Tuesday it will unveil a Universal UP Kit, aimed at enhancing the accessibility of home appliances, at IFA 2023 in Berlin, Germany, scheduled for Sept. 1.
The Universal UP Kit serves as an accessory intended to aid customers in utilizing a variety of LG home appliances.
It features a universal design, enabling easy utilization for individuals irrespective of gender, age, or disabilities.
For instance, the “easy handle” is crafted to assist people with disabilities and others facing challenges in manipulating their hands, making it effortless to open washing machine doors.
Additionally, high-contrast colors have been incorporated to assist customers with limited eyesight in identifying objects more readily.
The kit includes an “assistive stand,” allowing users to conveniently manage wireless vacuum cleaners; “easy hangers” facilitating clothes placement on a styler’s mobile hanger without the need to rise from wheelchairs; “rotating shelves” to maximize refrigerator inner space utilization; “easy nozzles” capable of adjusting water dispenser height; and “Braille remote control covers” catering to individuals with visual impairments.
To formulate these user-friendly tools, LG analyzed challenges faced by individuals with physical, auditory, and visual disabilities, as well as those with cognitive impairments, in each appliance’s usage.
This assessment was conducted in consultation with representative groups from these communities.
