SEOUL, Dec. 31 (Korea Bizwire) — LG Electronics is set to strengthen its leadership in the premium gaming market with the introduction of groundbreaking OLED gaming monitors at CES 2025, the world’s largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, in Las Vegas early next month.

The company announced on December 30 that it will showcase two 45-inch UltraGear monitors at CES 2025, which opens on January 7. These monitors mark a significant advancement in display technology, being the first OLED gaming monitors to support 5K2K resolution (5,120 x 2,160), surpassing the current 4K standard. The screens feature a 21:9 aspect ratio, designed to deliver an immersive gaming experience suited for the latest games.

The displays boast impressive brightness, reaching up to 1,300 nits, which represents the highest brightness level among OLED monitors currently available.

The flagship model, 45GX990A, introduces an innovative bendable feature that allows users to adjust the screen from flat to a 900R curvature (equivalent to the curve of a circle with a 900mm radius).

This versatility enables users to switch between a flat screen for general content consumption and a curved display for enhanced immersion in racing games or first-person shooters. The model’s exceptional picture quality and bendable functionality have earned it three CES Innovation Awards, including the Best of Innovation award.

The companion model, 45GX950A, features a fixed 800R curved display, designed to provide gamers with improved peripheral vision of game elements such as minimaps.

Both monitors support dual modes: a high refresh rate mode (2,560 x 1,080 at 330Hz) and a high resolution mode (5,120 x 2,160 at 165Hz). The high refresh rate mode is optimized for fast-paced first-person shooters, while the high resolution mode is ideal for visually rich games and video content.

Users can easily switch between these modes and adjust aspect ratios and screen sizes using dedicated buttons at the base of the monitor.

The monitors are compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies, ensuring smooth, tear-free gaming experiences. Additionally, LG will introduce UltraGear monitors equipped with webOS, allowing users to access various streaming services and cloud gaming platforms without connecting to a PC.

LG Electronics plans to aggressively target the rapidly growing gaming monitor market with these new UltraGear products. According to Value Estimates Report, the global gaming monitor market is projected to grow from approximately $6.5 billion in 2023 to $17.4 billion by 2030, with an average annual growth rate of 14.9%.

“With our new UltraGear lineup, headlined by the world’s highest resolution OLED gaming monitors, we aim to provide gamers worldwide with an unparalleled immersive gaming experience,” said Yoon-suk Lee, head of LG’s IT business division.
