SEOUL, Oct. 19 (Korea Bizwire)LG Uplus Corp., a major wireless carrier, and Hyundai Elevator Co., South Korea’s No. 1 lift manufacturer, announced on Tuesday that they will distribute safety devices that make use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology to elevator installation workers.

After signing a business agreement early this year, the two companies have jointly developed smart safety management systems, including IoT sensor safety hats, rings, belts, exclusive applications for elevator installers and control platforms.

The new system analyzes if workers appropriately tighten their safety hat chin straps or wear safety rings when installing elevators in high places, and prevents falls by informing them if any of their equipment has been put on incorrectly.

“We will expand the application of the smart safety management system starting from elevator installation sites to other sites with a risk of fall accidents, aimed at contributing to preventing serious disaster accidents,” said Jeon Seung-hoon, head of smart infrastructure at LG Uplus.
