SEOUL, July 21 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Uplus, one of Korea’s big three telecommunications companies, has launched an IoT helmet designed to help mitigate the risks and dangers laborers are exposed to at construction sites.

According to LG Uplus, the helmet is equipped with an LTE modem, camera, LTE-based communications module, and a GPS chip, which will allow for real-time site monitoring, tracking down workers’ locations, and improving communication efficiency between the control center and the active workers.

Workers wearing the helmet can also stream a HD live-feed to the control center in cases of emergency.

LG Uplus will provide the operators of the helmets with its self-developed cloud-based control platform, which can be accessed via both PC and smartphone.
