SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – Naver’s global messenger ‘LINE’ is dominating mobile communications in Thailand with the lion’s share of the mobile messenger market.
According to Naver, there are currently 33 million LINE users in Thailand. Considering that the country’s total population is 68 million and that 63 percent of Thais own a smartphone, Naver’s share of the mobile messenger market is thought to exceed 90 percent.
Of note, 79 percent of respondents to a survey in Thailand answered that they use LINE as a messenger on a daily basis.
LINE, based on its vast user base, is providing services other than a mobile messenger, making the service useful in various ways. It is also used frequently as a complete mobile platform that covers games, music, TV and payments.
In addition, LINE stickers are the marketing tool companies prefer the most, and Thai police use LINE as a platform to share information and pictures of crime sites, opening an official LINE account in August.
Officials comment that through the LINE Creator’s Market, a LINE sticker circulation platform in which users participate, various contributions have been made to society with the funds raised by sales of the stickers.
