Lipstick Sales Jump amid Eased Indoor Mask Rules

SEOUL, Feb. 2 (Korea Bizwire)The number of consumers looking for cosmetics and perfumes is increasing rapidly as the government eased indoor mask-wearing restrictions.

Fashion shopping platform ZigZag reported a 67 percent jump in lipstick sales between Jan. 20-30 compared to December 2022.

Sales of lip balms and lip tints jumped by 23 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

Makeup powder sales also jumped, by 52 percent while foundation and concealer sales were up 26 percent and 20 percent, respectively.

Another fashion shopping app ABLY’s overall transactions last month for the inner-beauty section tripled from the previous month.

On top of cosmetics, an increasing number of consumers are looking for perfumes.

Lotte On, an e-commerce platform operated by retail giant Lotte, reported a 40-percent increase in perfume sales between January 23 and 29 compared to last year.

On Monday, the first day of the lifting of a mandate for indoor places, five perfume products made it to the top 20 bestselling products on the beauty sales charts.
