SEOUL, May 2 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) startup Upstage said Monday it has added a new function to its chatbot AskUp, which analyzes and records nutritional information when users upload food photos.
This was made possible through a contract signed between Upstage and the local healthcare startup Doing Lab to implement the latter’s food recognition solution.
For example, if you upload a photo of the sandwich you had for breakfast onto AskUp, Doing Lab’s FoodLens will provide you with its nutritional information, such as calorie, carbohydrate, protein, and fat content, as well as offer diet advice.
By clicking the “record” button at the bottom of AskUp, it can recommend healthy recipes or foods that match your dietary habits and goals.
“FoodLens 2.0, which AskUp uses, is a technology that can recognize all types of food, including their two-dimensional images and sizes,” Upstage stated.
