SEOUL, March 27 (Korea Bizwire)Many churches are refraining from holding offline worship services due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Recently, a new way of participating in religious activities while performing ‘social distancing’ is gaining attention.

The Seoul City Church in Seoul’s Jungnang District plans to hold a drive-in worship service this coming Sunday.

Church members can park their cars in the church parking lot, and participate in a worship service by listening to the radio.

Lead Pastor Rev. Cho Hee-seo gave three reasons for introducing such a novel way of bringing people to church.

“It may not be the best choice, but it is a good alternative to respect government policies, allowing us to take the lead in fighting the coronavirus, while satisfying our church members and God,” the pastor said.

The drive-in worship service can accommodate as many as 300 cars. The church plans to guide drivers to park their cars at least two meters away from other cars and prepared five FM frequencies for radio broadcast.

Church members will be able to participate in a worship service while maintaining a 5-meter distance from others.
