SEOUL, April 12 (Korea Bizwire)Optical film manufacturer Sangbo Corp. announced that it has developed a special film that selectively prevents cigarette ads in convenience stores from being viewed from outside.

The company completed a patent application and established a mass-production system for the target blocking (TB) film after developing it.

The TB film’s effectiveness was verified by installing it in a convenience store last week.

Unlike opaque sheets, the TB film allows people to transparently view the inside of convenience stores from outside, while selectively hiding cigarette ads.

Convenience stores have been required to affix opaque sheets to their windows since July 2021 to prevent their cigarette ads from being viewed from outside, in accordance with government guidelines.

However, these sheets have been criticized for leaving workers at risk because crimes that occur inside the stores cannot be seen from the outside.
