SEOUL, March 27 (Korea Bizwire) — Lotte Energy Materials Corp. said Thursday it will seek the Copper Mark, a global certification for the copper industry’s responsible production practices, for its Malaysian plant.
The Copper Mark is a comprehensive social and environmental assurance system for copper production managed by the International Copper Association.
Lotte Energy Materials aims to leverage the certification to enhance its credibility as a battery material supplier and strengthen business ties with global customers.
The company’s Malaysian plant, which produces copper foil, runs on hydroelectric power, earning positive feedback from global customers focused on environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.
“To strengthen our global competitiveness and that of our customers, we will focus on sustainable management through responsible supply chains and green energy transitions,” said Kim Yeon-seop, chief executive officer (CEO) of Lotte Energy Materials.
