SEOUL, Dec. 8 (Korea Bizwire)Lotte ON, an online shopping website running by the retail arm of Lotte Group, said Wednesday it will release an upcycled replica of the rubber duck that was put up for exhibition in Seokchon Lake in Seoul’s Songpa Ward in October.

This project aims to recycle the rubber duck made with some 200 polyester sheets into 1,000 upcycled products.

The polyester sheet that was used to create the giant rubber duck is 1,500 square meters large, and was originally expected to be scrapped after the exhibition.

However, Lotte World Tower and the artist decided to donate the rubber duck, which was sent to upcycling firm 119 Reo to be cleaned, disassembled and reprocessed to make 1,000 smaller rubber ducks.

Lotte ON will begin a special event until Dec. 18 in which participants can post comments online, from which lots will be drawn to win a free rubber duck.

The company also plans to join hands with Lotte World Tower and open up a pop-up store in Lotte World Mall from Dec. 19-25.
