SEOUL, Feb. 28 (Korea Bizwire) — Lotte Shopping Co., an affiliate of South Korean retail giant Lotte Group, said Friday it has adopted the Taiwan LINE Pay settlement system at its discount store chain to woo Taiwanese travelers.
Lotte Shopping formed a partnership with LINE Pay Taiwan Ltd. to introduce the LINE Pay system at its entire 111 Lotte Mart outlets across the nation starting Feb. 4, the company said in a press release.
It is the first time for a Korean discount store chain to adopt the LINE Pay system, it said.
LINE Pay is a mobile payment service that allows customers to use the LINE app to make purchases at participating merchants. It is widely available in countries like Taiwan and Thailand.
Lotte Shopping is the operator of the country’s biggest department store chain by sales and the second-biggest discount store chain.
