ULSAN, Jan. 17 (Korea Bizwire) — The Ulju Cultural Foundation and Seosaeng-myeon Residents’ Association announced on January 16 that they will host “2025 Ganjeolgot Rises” on January 25 at Ganjeolgot, South Korea’s premier sunrise viewing location, to celebrate the Lunar New Year.
The event, sponsored by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power’s Shin-Hanul headquarters, aims to send a message of hope amid recent domestic and international challenges that have dampened public spirits.
The festivities will begin with local specialty product exhibitions organized by Seosaeng-myeon resident groups, followed by performances by celebrated artists including Park Ki-young and Son Clair, winners of the “Immortal Songs” TV music competition program, along with Park Sung-on, Kim Da-na, and Lee Soo-geun.

On the morning of January 1, a citizen captures the first sunrise of 2025 within heart-shaped hands at Ganjeolgot in Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan—the earliest place on the Korean Peninsula to witness the sunrise.
A highlight of the celebration will be an elaborate show featuring 1,500 drones, accompanied by a fireworks display. Breaking from traditional drone shows that typically focus on static images, this performance will present a cinematic narrative against the backdrop of Ganjeolgot, featuring characters such as Haettmi, the Ganjeol warrior, and climate change villains.
The event is open to the public, with detailed information available on the Ulju Cultural Foundation’s website.
