Luxury Hotels in Seoul Welcome Pets in Style

SEOUL, Jun. 25 (Korea Bizwire)With pet ownership increasingly popular among South Koreans, a growing number of individuals are planning to go away on summer holidays with their animal companions this year.

Many first-class hotels, formerly reluctant to receive pets as guests, have started to cater to such demand by providing accommodation for pets in addition to beds, toys, treats and other pet-related conveniences.

According to industry insiders, L’Escape, a new hotel to scheduled to open on July 19, will allow pets to stay on its premises along with their owners. L’Escape is a new hotel brand initiative funded by the Shinsegae Chosun Hotel group chain.

With up to two dogs under 10 kilograms allowed to accompany their owners, the hotel will work with pet design brand “Howlpot” to provide a welcome kit for pets that includes toys, treats and potty pads.

The cost of a hotel stay for a single pet will come to 100,000 won with an extra 60,000 won for an additional pet, not including tax. The pets will be limited to a seven-day stay.

Other luxury hotels in Seoul have initiated similar operations for pets. Vista Walkerhill Seoul is currently operating “Oh! My Pet” for animals that check into the hotel with their owners.

A welcome kit inclusive of a bed, cushion, food, water bowl, and other pet essentials will be provided.

For a one-night stay, a single pet will incur costs of 200,000 per night, not including tax and service fees. From the second night onwards, the rate is 30,000 won per night, not including tax.

Grand Mercure Ambassador Seoul Yongsan is currently running a “Mong-Friendly” service which allows families with pets to spend a great time with their furry family members with a price tag of 33,000 won per night per pet.

Up to two pets that weigh less than 10 kilograms can stay at the hotel.

Four Seasons Hotel Seoul’s accommodation for pets costs 250,000 won (excluding tax) for one stay, regardless of the duration. Only a single pet that weighs under 4 kilograms is allowed, and guests must book in advance.
