Majority of Office Workers Think Fashion Sense affects Job Performance Evaluations

SEOUL, July 8 (Korea Bizwire)Six out of ten Korean office workers consider that their attire and appearance can affect their job performance ratings.

According to UNIQLO on July 7, 58.5 percent of Korean office workers think that the tidiness of their dress and appearance could be important factors for others in appraising their work ability. Only 3.7 percent said that fashion sense was not related with job performance assessments.

The global SPA brand surveyed 1,000 Korean office workers aged 25 to 50.

On their opinion about the cool biz look, a liberal summer dress code, 39.6 percent said that linen shirts and denim was okay, while 25.8 percent had stricter standards with short-sleeve dress shirts or no jacket.

The survey even had 15.2 percent of respondents indicating that they wanted the summer dress code policy to allow for short pants and sandals, or no restrictions at all (13.3%).

Meanwhile, 55.9 percent of workers picked excessively revealing outfits as the biggest clothing eyesores in the office.

An official at UNIQLO said, “Recently, the dress codes of companies are changing to offer a creative working environment and to save energy. More and more office workers will vie for the cool biz look.”
