SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Korea Bizwire)Six out of ten South Koreans believe that the current policy of restricting the use of vehicles owned by public institutions during periods of severe fine dust is ineffective, arguing that the policy should be expanded to private cars as well.

The Asian Citizen’s Center for Environment and Health (ACCEH) announced the results of a survey conducted on 1,000 participants in South Korea, asking them about pollution and fine dust.

Among the respondents, 60 percent said the current policy of restricting government vehicles based on the last odd or even number inscribed on the car plate is ineffective, and 54.3 percent said that the policy should also be expanded to include private cars.

Another 66.3 percent said they would be willing to participate in the program if it included private cars. “Citizens have confirmed for us that restricting public vehicles is not enough to improve the situation,” said the ACCEH.
