SEOUL, May 30 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s food and beverage industry is releasing a new series of products made with “makgeolli,” a traditional grain-based alcoholic drink, for the summer season.
Kooksoondang Brewery Co. on Wednesday is releasing a new makgeolli mixed with Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co.’s Chilsung Cider carbonated beverage.
The product comes in a 350-milliliter can of makgeolli with an alcohol content of 5 percent.
Bakery chain Paris Baguette has teamed up with local brewery Seoul Jangsoo Co. to release a new “makgeolli milkshake.”
The new makgeolli-flavored milkshake is a non-alcoholic drink with less than 1 percent alcohol.
“Makgeolli is becoming a new trend in the liquor industry, driven by the millennials and Generation Z’s taste for something different,” Paris Baguette said.
