SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Korea Bizwire)A Seoul court has sentenced a man to 14 months in prison for entering a poem praising the North Korean regime in a competition organized by a North Korean propaganda website.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down the jail term to the 68-year-old on charges of violating the National Security Act that calls for punishment of anyone “who praises, incites or propagates an antigovernment organization.”

The suspect was indicted for sending a poem titled “means of unification” to the propaganda website Uriminzokkiri in early 2016.

The writer said in the poem that free housing, free medical care and free education will be available if the two Koreas are unified in a North Korean-style socialist system.

The poem was selected as a winner in the competition in November 2016.

The man has a record of getting a 10-month prison term on similar charges in the past.
