MOKPO, South Korea, Sept. 26 (Korea Bizwire) – A 37-year-old man in Mokpo has opened a café with some 1,000 action figures on display.
Owner Park Young-wook’s impressive collection is valued at approximately 300 million won ($271,444), and it spans all the way from superheroes like Superman and Batman to real-life toy figures of celebrities including Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe, and Mike Tyson.
The most expensive of the kind is of Doctor Doom, a supervillain from Marvel’s Fantastic Four, which sells for roughly 6 million won.
“Spending millions of won on action figures, I did face many complaints and scolding from my father and my wife,” said Park during an interview with Yonhap News Agency. “But the investment value of action figures has increased over the years, and the general perception of collecting the items has also improved, and they’re (wife and father) now my biggest sponsors.”
