DAEJEON, Feb. 20 (Korea Bizwire)The National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS) in Daejeon will be creating a new medical mathematics center to conduct research that can raise the success rate of designing effective treatment plans based on precise medical information.

Medical mathematics takes into account mathematical explanations and modeling theories to solve various problems that occur at medical sites.

Normally, hospitals continuously design treatment plans based on the data generated from various phases of treatment until the patient is fully cured.

During the process, data is used to estimate the success rate of the treatment plans, which is when mathematical modelling and data analysis technology come in handy.

The new medical mathematics center will also work on strategies to deal with new emerging infectious diseases and cooperate with external agencies to develop new medicine.

“We will maximize our mathematical capabilities to bring South Korea’s medical technology to the next level,” said Jung Sun-young, director of NIMS.
