SEOUL, Jan. 12 (Korea Bizwire) The South Korean embassy in Bangkok and the Korean association in Thailand on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with Bangkok Hospital to provide medical services to Koreans in Thailand.

Based on the agreement, the hospital will provide medical treatment to Korean residents at a discounted rate, and alert the embassy if there is a severe emergency patient without a guardian.

Bangkok Hospital is one of Southeast Asia’s largest provider of medical care, operating some 20 general hospitals across Thailand.

The agreement has paved the way for better access to medical services among Korean residents and the creation of an emergency communication network.

The embassy also signed the same agreement with MedPark Hospital and Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok.

“It is meaningful that we can now ensure medical benefits not only in Bangkok but also in Chiang Mai and Phuket, where there are large communities of Korean residents,” South Korea ambassador to Thailand Moon Seoung-hyun said.
