ULSAN, Jan.28 (Korea Bizwire)A Mediterranean marine city inspired by Nice, Venice and other similar municipalities will be created in Ulsan.

According to the local government, the establishment of a Mediterranean marine city is still in the planning stages.

Authorities plan to make the location into a tourist attraction from the early stages of development.

Benchmarking marine cities worldwide, the area will be developed under the theme ‘Mediterranean Village’. Guidelines for building design, street signs, and overall atmosphere will be established based on the theme.

The area will be divided into four sections that resemble four major marine cities –  Nice (France), Barcelona (Spain), Santorini (Greece), and Venice (Italy).

The buildings erected in each location will be constructed under established guidelines to recreate the unique atmosphere of each city.

White and blue will be the main colors in the Santorini-themed area, while Venice will be expressed with red brick buildings to create the atmosphere of a medieval city. Gray is to be the key color for the Barcelona area, and Nice will be expressed through yellow color.

Structures that represent each city will also be placed to create an exquisite environment.

Roads leading to the ocean, paths through forests, flower gardens, night lighting installations and outdoor cafés will be created.

Officials commented that the attempt is a first in Korea. They also expect that once developed, the area will create a new cultural and commercial block, attracting many tourists to visit.
