SEOUL, Dec. 21 (Korea Bizwire) – The mega-hit computer game “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” was officially launched in South Korea on Thursday.

The multiplayer online battle video game is available to local users through a platform provided by Kakao Games, the game unit under Kakao Corp., which operates South Korea’s most-used mobile messenger Kakao Talk.

“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” has been wildly popular since its global launch in March, and it has now sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

In the game, up to 100 players land on an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while trying to avoid getting killed themselves.

The available safe space shrinks in size over time, forcing the surviving players into a tighter area that forces more encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round.
