The event and the installing of new large-sized flags in airports are to commemorate the declaration of independence 69 years ago, to inspire patriotism for Korean nationals and raise the national brand values to foreign visitors.
Especially for Gimpo International Airport’s domestic and international terminals, nine grand-sized (7.5 x 5.0 m) flags has been newly installed which will be visible from an incoming airplane, and 210 more flags have also been posted on the roads coming into the airport.
The CEO of the airports corporation said in the ceremony, “We hope that the new flags will give warm welcome to the visitors to our nation, and instill patriotism and the spirit of independence to the citizens.”
