SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Korea Bizwire)German luxury carmakers Mercedes-Benz and BMW will voluntarily recall more than 3,000 vehicles to fix faulty parts, the transport ministry said Wednesday.

Mercedes-Benz’s recall — set to begin later in the day — affects 1,440 units of 21 different models produced between January and June 2017, including the GLS 350d 4MATIC, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said.

The ministry said these vehicles have problems with left-rear door locks that do not function properly, making these cars vulnerable to theft.

In 2016, Takata said on its website that certain inflator ruptures are caused by a combination of long-term exposure to high heat, absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

BMW will also recall 79 motorcycles in three models, including the BMW C 650 Sport, for faulty software that may cause engine breakdowns, according to the ministry.
